I have just been blessed with 15 laying hens just 5 days ago.
I have 8 Leghorns 18months old and 6 leghorn/white Sussex hybrids 12 months old and 1 silkie 12 months old.
I have never had chickens before but have been reading everything I can.
I an allergic to corn so I wonder what I can give in the evening instead of an egg cup of corn to each chicken.
My hens are organic

Also, how many eggs a day should I expect from this many hens.
Thank you

Hello, and welcome! Good luck with your flock! Did they all come from the same place?
Yes, a lovely lady, I was only having 6 but she was let down with the last 9 of 40 hens and was going to have to cull them. I just couldn't let that happen.
I had bought a large coop, some fencing and feeders from her so when i said I would take all the hens she was so relieved that she gave them to me for free

Hello, and welcome to BYC. Understand that your hens will likely take a break in their laying cycle due to the change in homes. You will eventually get a lot of eggs.
Thank you, they have been laying between 3 and 5 a day since they arrived. The coop is familiar to them so they seem to be very settled...
