Hey, my name is Kia and live in Connecticut with my kids and husband. We recently bought a home and it came with hens and roosters. I had limited experience with chickens and was kind of terrrified of roosters since I was attacked as a kid. Being more self-sufficient is important to us and I really wanted to conquer that rooster fear. I was surprised to find I wasn't too bad at caring for them - as we have 5 kids I could have guessed I might have been able to handle it.

Now I am no longer afraid of roosters, but have very recently lost my first rooster "love" to a predator attack. He taught me many lessons, he served his flock proudly, and they all survived. Since then, we got baby chicks (tried to get all hens, but got 1 rooster) and have been raising them. They are about 4 months old and this rooster has proved to be a bit more challenging.😂 So here I find myself!

Welcome to BYC, Kia. I hope your rooster boy straightens up. I suggest a fishing net with a long extending handle. No rooster likes to be caught. He will learn to respect you. Just catch him and hold him. It may take a while but he will figure out who's in charge. I would not let an aggressive rooster around children.
