hi everyone!

Quote: Well, hate to break it to you, but I was born and raised in Texas ;) So I'm freezing my *** off here in Washington BUT the chickens seem to be doing fine ;)

Yup, as long as your coop is dry and draft free, when they get cold they'll just go snuggle up to momma. I wouldn't move them, myself. Helps them integrate into the flock easier. Momma will protect them from the other hens! Broody mommas are NOTHING on a momma hen with chicks!

Day before yesterday, or I guess I should say the night before last(the day I thought I had a sick hen) my husband said he saw 2. I spend a lot of time with them and I know she had only been sitting for about a day. I noticed during the day she wasnt out with the others and when I checked on her that night and she wasnt on the roost and I became worried. I only have 2 hens and 2 roosters. I havent checked since. I'm assuming the other hen is still laying. I will check again today and read on the site that I should mark the eggs that are there with a Sharpie and remove the others. I'm hoping the other hen laid one so I will have more today. If they are only a day or two apart it should be okay I hope? I will mark them all today and tomorrow Ill take any out that are not marked.

I wasn't even typing for very long. Geesh!

We need a timer that counts down. We can watch it out of the corner of our eye as we speed type the last of what we are trying to say.....

FYI....I use a pencil to mark eggs. Sometimes it can rub off so you may have to remark. Just my 2 cents.

Quote: Uhhgg!! Someone must know how long we have...so frustrating..lol!!

Quote: LOL! pretty cold up there hu! I have heard from several people on the site that the flock should be OK in the cold, that it's really not THAT cold here and that good ventilation is really more of an issue. Our "bad" cold snap is pretty much over and we did fine so all is well.

My plan is to leave Miss Molly alone and just keep a close eye on her but i have a plan B should any problems come up. I enclosed a section in the corner of my barn, I have a heat lamp, hay, and a small crate for her nest and can move her at a moments notice if something happens.

Birds do well with cold. Just need a place that gets them out of the wind. The heat is what we deal with here like ya'all do with the cold, RAIN and snow. My flock loves the rain since it so uncommon.

I guess my flock can't complain. I have heat lamp in my youngest coop. It is 50 degrees at night. Might dip a little lower...spoiled birds.
