Welcome! One thing I've learned is that no matter how big your coop is, it is never big enough 😁 for nesting boxes I think the pre-made coop has 12x16x14 high, I made the other coop some 12x14x14 and the barred rocks wouldn't use them, just laid their eggs wherever in the coop. Now that have about a 16x16x16 and they've used it since I put it in for them.
 
My boxes are 16"x 16"x 16". They are roughly 20 years old and have had a countless number of eggs laid in them. One thing I did notice was that the hens would kick all the bedding/straw out until I doubled the front stop from 1 1/2" to 3". What kind of birds are you thing of getting?
