Good for you, go to the head of your class For bears you probably need a really HOT electric fence. Their fur is an insulator so they won't feel the jolt unless their nose touched the wire. Some folks string foil around with peanut butter smeared on it, to get them to nose it.

Another person would toss firecrackers out, after a time or two if the bear saw them come out of the house, it would take off.

Personally, I would just move, I don't want bears around .

I had a chuckle with your intro and thinking just when you had things ready to go, there was something else to do...reminded me of my 1st foray into keeping chickens.
