Hi everyone. I am getting back into chickens after a long time. I got a mixture of Brahma chicks. How long before they start laying

Hello fellow Alaskan!

Most chickens lay around 20 weeks (or 5 months) but brahmas may lay later than that as they are not a laying breed.

Around 22 weeks I'd say. Once their comb goes big and turns red, and they begin squatting, they should begin laying soon

Best of luck! I love brahmas, haha

Welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the new birds! I don't keep Brahmas, but they sure are pretty birds.

Enjoy your new flock and welcome to ours!

So anyone on Alaska preferably in the kenai peninsula or possibly in Anchorage who have some laying hens to sell

Welcome to BYC - as others have stated, Brahmas are generally slow to mature, but their egg laying longevity is greater than many other breeds.
