Thank you all for the welcoming me to this group I look forward to learning a lot in the coming year. Several of you have asked about what breeds I’m thinking of so I’ll list them as follows 6 speckled Sussex 1 dorking 1 faverolles and 1 crévecoeur. All of these breeds are heritage, and heavy. They are all said to be docile and when combined with more aggressive birds can be bullied but since they won’t be I hope that they will do well together. Another question was about predators, this is indeed a major problem in Alaska but I live in a well populated neighborhood and it is inhabited by a protective flock of magpies who drive our ravens and eagles far away. Magpies I’ve heard can be a problem especially in stealing eggs and tormenting small and young chickens. I plan to see how they react and then adapt to keep the birds safe. I would love any experience any of you might have with magpies thanks. Sorry this has been so long

I have heard that Crèvecoeurs can have problems with crest lice is this a common issue? Thanks
