"Hi" from another Newbie

Hi all,

I am Sunny from WI in the US. I am newly addicted to the world of All Things Chicken.

How many do I have? Not supposed to count our eggs before the hatch, but I am currently "sitting" all broody on 12 silkie eggs from the fabulous Bobby Porto. Day 5! However, I am also contemplating getting some Brahma eggs.

How many chickens has our city agreed we can have? 4. 4! How is that even possible? Luckily, I have friends on farms who have agreed to take any Roos and "extras". Admittedly, I don't think they realized exactly how many "extras" really means. (Insert slightly forced laugh here to show I am joking. Not joking).

Anywho...besides the unhatched who shall remain uncounted, the family consists of our second potential chicken parent - my eldest son (24), 3 dogs ( standard poodle, golden doodle, and a yorkie/pom/poo who rules us all), and Rufus, the cat who thinks he's a dog. Laughing at us from one town over is my youngest son (23) and his gf.

So, that's us. Now for a question....if i want to get fertile eggs could I bring my girls to a roo or bring the roo to them for a day or do they need to " know eachother" a bit better for the magic to happen?

Thank you all for including me in the group...and for your patience with my newbie-ness ( and typos! I am notorious!)

Sunny
Good morning and welcome! I'm in MN 😃 so we're neighbors! Only non-chicken people make up rules like "4 hens". Who can stop at 4?
