If you know someone with just a few chickens that you feel are trustworthy they may be very familiar with the health of their own chickens. Or play is safe and buy chicks or hatching eggs. Just remember 50:50 male:female and have a responsible plan. It does sound like you need to move though.

My thoughts EXACTLY! 4 isn't even someplace you can START, let alone STOP! Glad we neighbors think alike!

Totally need to move. Some place warmer too, while I am at it...maybe near a beach.
