Hello all!
My name is Raven and I am from the flyspeck on the map of Blacksburg,SC. Just over the NC/SC line. I am 49 yo and have a nerve disorder called RSD/CRPS which is a disability that I refuse to let win. Chickens are a part of that battle as well as my other animals.
I am actually living my childhood dream! How many people can say that?

We have 6 acres, about half wooded and also have a pond. On that 6 acres we have 6 chickens (I hope to add more) 2 crazy ducks, 2 goats (one pregnant one due any day) a rescue horse, a donkey, 8 dogs, 5 cats, 6 sugar gliders, 4 snakes and a bearded dragon. So we kind of have a mini zoo lol.
Because of my RSD I can work for maybe 15-20 mins and then have to rest for at least 45 mins. On bad days I am lucky to just be able to do the basics. But I know the animals keep me moving, in better shape than I would be without them and bring me more joy than a lot of people can understand!
I am also in college online for Web Design and Development so between the animals and school I keep pretty busy....and a lot of days exhausted lol.
I am hoping to learn a lot more for the care of chickens from the others here. I love being able to share knowledge and communities online that do that! I love watching the chickens run around scratching and pecking I could sit all day and watch them.
Sorry to make this a bit long and if you have any questions please ask!
Peace,
Raven

Chickens can definitely help one with health issues and such. They really do keep your mind off of yourself and give you the satisfaction of helping another creature. Somehow that equates to less pain. I have some health issues myself and know that the chickens get me out of bed in the morning on days I might not get out of bed at all. LOL So more power to you Raven!

Make yourself at home here and if you have any questions about things, feel free to ask around the forums.

Enjoy your farm and all it has to offer and welcome to our flock!

Hi! I have actually wanted a donkey for a long time! Could you possibly tell me about taking care of it? I've also heard that you need 2, but since you only have one, I don't see that being a problem!

Thank you!
