Hi from Bruce in upstate SC.

Thanks for the welcome all. I've just about decided to order 15. I know a few people who will probably take my extras if I need them too. I have e-mailed someone locally from Craig's List, but their ad was almost a month old and I haven't heard back from them, so they may not have any chicks left.

I placed an order for my chicks today, they should be here on or about Jan 14. I picked up a plastic tote, red heat lamp, chick starter and some chick sized food/water containers. I have some gro gel coming with the birds.

I'm been experimenting with the heat lamp to get a feel for how high to hang it to control the temperature I have a few unused porcelain tiles I was thinking about placing in the bottom of my plastic tote brooder to help retain heat. It will be covered in pine litter, but I'm a little concerned it may get too warm. Any thoughts?

My girls arrived today. All were happy and healthy. They ate and drank for about 2 straight hours before they finally slowed down. I can't wait to watch them grow.

Glad to hear that they arrived safely! Hopefully they continue to be healthy and happy.
