Hi
I'm utterly new to the whole chicken thing... am just working on building my first ever coop - though I have one bird lol
meet Col. Sanders - he's still living with the nice lady across the road that hatched him until my coop is ready and I have some wives for him.

I'm told he's a Leghorn but I'm still very new to telling breeds apart.
The coop I'm building is 3ft x 3ft x 3ft (though sloped roof) for him and 4 wives, the people on surrounding allotments are being super helpful in teaching me about their care and offering holiday cover should I need it - obviously I'll do same. They are having a 'hard standing' run of 8ft x 3ft which with the space under coop means they will have 33 sq ft 'all weather' space with a further 100+ sq ft pen for foraging and ranging in... when no veg growing they'll get run of whole allotment too.
Bit about me... I'm 29, currently trying to start my own business making custom pet furniture and also writing and illustrating a series of kids books... not much to tell really... I love animals and have an Extended National Diploma in Animal Management which is how I found out that though I am very 'bird phobic' of most pet birds... I'm ok with chickens, ducks and quail. I also have 4 rescue cats and 2 springer spaniels - 1 rehome and 1 is my trainee assistance dog.
Anyway... so... hi! *waves*
