And please let me know if we can ever help you navigate or in any other way!
Hi & welcome. I have several turks,& that sounds like an "I'm content" noise. Turks will make a variety of noises. I have a 4 yr. old hen with a 4" beard that gobbles! She's my best layer & makes the best mom!
Birdaholic, thank you for your thoughts!
I kinda thought it might be but didn't want to put my feelings on it! I swear, this bird and I have sooo bonded. If I am sitting on the steps, she will come up there, walk behind me, stick her head in between my arm and body and then lay down...like a dog would with her head on my leg and then she goes to sleep! The hens will be eatting and she would rather be sitting with me. Everyone knows how attached I am to Clara. My husband has declared it "weird" how she runs to me when I call her name and then immediately lays down on my foot!
She is the only turkey...would it be better to get her a "friend" next spring or just leave her with the hens. She is often off by herself and not as tight as the hens are, they go everywhere in a pack with Slick the rooster chasing after them...and then there is Clara off in the front yard all by herself. If she knows I am out there, she will holler until I go pick her up and take her around back.....I think I have a "spoiled" turkey! But, darn it, she is my favorite!
