Hello!

My name is Adam. At the end of march my wife Abbie and I will be getting our first chicks! We have been talking about it for a while, and now is the right time.

Looking for a mixed flock of heritage breed birds. (about 10 birds total) Got a list from a farmers co-op and was excited to see ones that I am very interested in. It may not be the best way to start off a flock, but i want to see some color running around the yard.

So far looking at:
barred and partridge rocks
New Hampshire reds
black australorps
buff orphington
gold or silver wayndotte
Ameraucana
brahma
black giant

I will be building a coop and yard for the birds in the next month. Hopefully the snow will hold off!

Hi Adam!

from S. Florida! Its great to have you here with us!. Nice choices! My very favorite, is the barred rocks! But, then again, I love them all!

Welcome Adam! You don't say where in CT you are located. I'm in Bristol and have many of these breeds in my mixed flock. They're all hatchery stock, but I love them. There's lots of great chicken folk in CT, check out the Connecticut! thread.
