My chicken-obsessed 9 year old son desperately wants to us to expand from 19 treasured pet backyard chickens to start showing and breeding chickens. So it looks like I am starting a local 4-H Club in the Bethany, Connecticut area with an emphasis on poultry. I am reading and learning and appear also have a bad case of chicken fever.
 
Hi and welcome to byc :welcome I think that's great that your son is into chickens because nowadays most kids would rather watch tv then learn about animals and care for them. That's how I was when I was younger, I would spend everyday with my chickens and I still do. If you have any questions I can answer them ;)

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (picture in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Do you have a particular breed in mind for breeding and showing?

It sounds like you're headed into the 'chicken math' realm, lol. That's wonderful your son is so interested in poultry, that's something he can continue throughout his life and will learn so much from caring for animals.
