Some breeds can and will be bullies. Bummer town, but pecking order comes with the territory. I try not to mix pretty show birds with huge heritage egg producers. Multi housing now comes into play.Welcome- I am still a newbie but reading and absorbing info daily. This is a great site! I have 5 hens; 2 gold sex links, 2 black sex links, and 1 Dominique. I have noticed that the Dom gets picked on the most, which is a shame cause she was the sweetest. The last time I held her she was punished by getting pecked really hard- it broke my heart. I try not to let it bother me too much because, there does have to be a pecking order- she just happens to be at the bottom of that order. Mixing the breeds is okay, but I have learned that they will pick on the ones that are different- like my Dom- or the ones that have larger combs or wattles because they stand out and draw the attention.
