Hi!
I am not really "new" to chickens, I had 5, several years ago, and I swore never again after raccoons got my flock. I was completely heartbroken, and my children were devastated as well. My girls (the chickens) were pets, so they were so tame and friendly, and used to our other pets (dogs, cats) so I feel I didn't protect them well enough.

Anyway, we were talking this morning, and my daughter said, "Mom, let's get more chickens, we still have the coop and house set up, so why don't we?" I was a little startled, then thought "Why not?" We do love them, and know so much more about keeping them safe now, so we are going to brush off the house, repair the pen, reinforce the wire, move the whole thing closer to the house, and do it!

I'm on my way outside in a little while to see how the house is doing, if it is livable or if it needs replacement. This time, I will be putting down slate slabs around the outside and putting wire down on the inside of the pen as well (under the dirt and grass) It's early spring, so I will have alot of good weather to do this!)
I'm excited and think this will be loads of fun. Hopefully, I'll get my sons to help with the process, and my husband can repair anything that needs repairing. Yay! I'm also glad to find a community that I can learn more from, and talk to!
