Hi! My name is Anthony.
Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've kept chickens on and off for a few years now, but they're actually not why I'm here! After I move to Maine in the next year or so, I really want to get a few ratites, specifically Rhea!
How many chickens do you have right now?
None at present
What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The fresh eggs really can't be beat, and it helps that they're so cute.
What are some of your other hobbies?
Horseback riding, dog sports, writing, video games, activism, the list really doesn't end.
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have two horses (Mia, Tennessee Walker, 16y/o, and Crowley, Appaloosa, 1y/o), two dogs (Kandros, Doberman, 3y/o, and Lup, mutt, 2y/o), two cats (Minxie, black short hair, 4y/o, and Goosifer, orange short hair, 1y/o). I'm working on starting a farm (primary focus on horses, but I intend to have some crops and other livestock) with my partner. I'm a transmasculine nonbinary person, and my pronouns are they/them.
Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've actually known about BYC for a long time! Years ago I had an account, but I figure it's either been deleted from inactivity or I must have used an old forgotten email to make it. But I'm a very different person from who I was all that while ago, so the fresh start works for me. I can't honestly say I even remember how I originally found BYC, but I decided to (re)join because I'm interested in keeping rheas once my partner and I have established our farm, and I always like to do as much research and learning as I can well in advance for this kind of thing.
