Hey ya'll! I am new to the chicken raising world but have always loved them. I will be getting my first batch of baby chicks in the next few weeks! If any one has any tips for me, they would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and,

Welcome to our forum!

There's lots of good information in our learning center and in the stickies at the top of each forum.

In the south, heat is a serious concern in the summer. They will need shade and lots of water and breeze. Some of our North GA members lost chickens to the heat in recent heat waves. I love this thread to show the open style of coop that works so well down here:

You might want to find the Georgia thread in our Where am I? Where are You" forum.

Thanks :). I am actually homeschooled as well and have decided to go organic in all of the foods i cook.

Keep the litter dry, the brooder nice and warm, don't over crowd, and give lots of chickie treats!
