Hi from Japan - my intro

By the way, here are some in-progress pics today of the house + run. Bamboo gutter and rainwater collection is working great. Repurposed and old cabinet with new sloped shelves for nesting cubbies area. Still need to close up some areas and put up two layers of netting - strong for the weasels, fine for the snakes. Whole thing has a buried predator apron. Not sure if the ladder needs a surface under the steps. My first chicken project. Feedback? Thank you :)View attachment 3810088View attachment 3810090View attachment 3810091
Wow, very nice! That's a unique build. Ladder looks great but young birds may balk at using it (they'll get used to it.)

Hi!
I don't know if anyone will see this, but I've finished my coop! I also showed the process and a lot of nice footage in a recent vlog (heads up - the chicken footage doesn't start until 3:17 into the video).

We are renovating a 100-year old folk house, and I took the old sliding doors from there. The wood and textured glass at the base give my kids some more privacy from any cats or other animals that happen to wander through, and it also made a nice structure to easily secure the hardware mesh to. You can also see the halved bamboo from this angle. There is a bamboo grove on our land, and I wanted to use as much bamboo as I could (free/biodegradable/nice look).

I let the kids out into the garden every morning for a while.

I removed the back of the cabinet and trimmed it out with halved bamboo.

The walkway and border is old roof tiles from the folk house (we recently put on a new metal roof).

That's all for now! Hope you like it. :)
