Hi folks,

I am a 46-year-old noob, aiming to have a small flock of hens next year.
Given my location (Northern Sweden) I will have to have winter as guide for my coming coop & run build - I've found a coop design here that might be exactly what I need.

During the coming winter I also will try to get som Arduino-based automation going. Come this spring, I will build the coop and run with the kids (7 years old)...

Cheers,
Greger

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

So glad you could join our community! Make sure to incorporate good ventilation in your coop. Ventilation is everything in cold climates. Chickens can tolerate very cold temps if dry, but wet chickens won't survive. 1 square foot of vent space per bird in the eaves, roost birds low to the floor, moisture rises up and out the roof, birds stay warm and dry.

Enjoy your poultry adventures and welcome to our roost! :)

Hello from mild winters Florida!:frow
I am worthless as far as advice on cold weather conditions obviously! Although I am excellent at welcoming new additions to this wonderful site!
Nice to hear from someone in Sweden! Gotta love the web! Can't help but love BYC!
