Things are much improved; the past few days have been warm and dry enough for the chicks to spend a few hours each day in their run. The additional exercise and new surroundings seem to have really improved behavior. I also moved them into a larger cardboard "brooder" today, since I have to head into the office and don't want to leave them in the run (no coop there yet) while I am not home.
