Hi
This is my first chicken forum to join
I have caught the chicken bug big time! I started with 6 Isa Browns (1 1/2-year-olds now) in April last year, then added 2 Lavender Araucanas this March (now 5-month-olds), 2 Andalusians (1 Blue & 1 Splash - approx 10 weeks old) & 1 Barnevelder (6-week old brown lace) in April and last week added 2 Brahmas (1 Black, 1 Blue - about 4-5 weeks old), 2 Orpingtons (1 Buff & 1 Chocolate - approx 3 weeks old) as well as another Barnevelder (Silver lace approx 3 weeks old)...and want to add more!
I love all the different personalities that they have, the different colours that they come in as well as the different egg colors. I also love starting my day when it is quiet and early and doing my "chores" for all the chooks. I find it peaceful and rewarding.
I don't get to have many other hobbies atm as I have a 3-year-old Daughter, am I in the middle of renovating our house and garden so am fairly flat out.
We also have a 10-year-old Irish Setter - Liza, 2 ginger cats - Moe (10) & Bobo (7), and a Bunny called Freckle (I think he's only about 2). I work as a Teacher for Tafe and live in Melbourne Australia.
BYC always comes up in the top 5 when I'm doing my numerous chicken searches and I always find the information very informative, useful and often funny
