Walking out to check, I see the elderberries are nicely leafed out now.
I planted one hillside in creeping phlox. I'm aware that they are mostly cultivars and not all the normal blue, but they stay absolutely covered in butterflies.
I also have plenty of wild phlox around.
I use native wild strawberries as a groundcover and am always trying to make people take some of them because they grow so profusely. It's a great plant because it provides really sweet berries and tolerates poor conditions and foot traffic.
I've planted a lot of heuchera, but there is also wild heuchera growing on the creek banks.
There are little clusters of rue anemone everywhere (I didn't plant them).
And the first of my trillium are starting to bloom. I love spring!
