I don't know why it has taken me so long to create an account for BYC, I've been reading articles on here for years! So excited to share my chicken adventures with everyone. I've owned chickens since I can remember, but most recently I have been specializing in Silkie chickens. I had a flock for over 2 years, with my prized hen (profile picture), Pearl, even winning Reserved Grand Champion at a competition once. :) Devastatingly, about 3 weeks ago a raccoon broke into my hen house and got all 6 of my girls in one night, including precious Pearl. After locking down the hatches and vamping up my hen house, I've ordered a new batch of chicks that should be here next week! Join me in my adventure of building up my Silkie flock again!

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You may have already found it while 'lurking' but just in case, BYC has an active Silkie Thread.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
