Hi all,
I've just joined after reading BYC for a while, and have picked up 6 chicks 2 weeks ago from TSC. I dont know eggzatly what kind they are other than the sign said "red pullets". After keeping them in a 30 gallon rubbermaid container I fabricated some new digs for them...



Its made from a 2x4 plywood base with 1x4 at the sides. A cube storage system was repurposed to make the cage along with zipties. My dog Lacy was a bit too interested so I add cardboard sides to give the girls some privacy.


The center right panels is hinged (with zipties) to give access.

Enjoy your chicks! How is your heat lamp attached? Lots of people freak out over heat lamp because they can fall and cause fires.

Hi Chirpy.
The lamp is clipped to the enclosure and ziptied in place. So for it to fall, the panel its attached to would have to fail as well. Thanks for asking.
