Hi everyone! I'm a first time chicken owner from NZ. I have three chooks that were given to me from a friend of a friend. Mama chook, and her 2 babies who are 3 1/2 weeks old. I have no idea what breed they are but the lady I got them from thinks the babies may (or may not) be part Orpington. Anyone able to help guess the breed for these cuties?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to BYC. If you post your pics on this forum, you may get some feedback -

More generally, you'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/ and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

Sadly, whilst there are a few Kiwi members, there doesn't seem to be a NZ thread. Maybe you could start one?

All the best

Howdy! What a lovely way to start your flock! I'm guessing some sort of marans or game type chicken. They look healthy which is the most important thing of all. Welcome to our flock!

I think you're right about the marans! Thanks for that.
