Hello and welcome ..... so glad you joined BYC

So sorry about your chicken being killed. I have had to take 2 of my chickens away from hawks over the early spring. They are a real threat if you dont have covered pens.

My pen is covered. He got then thoroughly the side fence... Reached in and grabbed through the fence.

from California, I would use hardware cloth instead of chicken wire, so that predators can't reach thru and grab the chickens. Good luck to you.
