We are new to chickens. Have been thinking about getting chickens for a few years now. I really want to build a coop by myself so I've been having fun checking out all of the coop designs.

I like the standard chickens. I've been eyeballing the RI reds, barred Plymouth, buff orpington, and easter eggers. I'd like to know if these chickens are family friendly.

We have two daughters, a dog, a cat, and a beta fish. We look forward to adding new members to our family (hopefully soon).

Welcome from WA state! We got our first chickens last spring, and I don't know what I would have done without BYC. Chickens are excellent family pets. Have fun
