Hello all! I'm Rebecca, I live in the lovely Willamettte valley in Western Oregon. A little over a year ago, my fiance and I moved to my late grandma's old farm house and we've been fixing it up and slowly getting it back to being somewhat of a functioning farm/homestead. Aside from our flock of chickens, we've got rabbits as well as a large garden, hay fields/pastures, a small forested area, and we hope to add goats, and maybe a pond + ducks someday soon.

I kept chickens for 4H back when I was in high school, and had a really great experience with that. When we moved to the farm I knew I wanted to have chickens again, so our first spring here we brought home 6 wyandotte pullets (3 gold laced, 3 silver laced) from the feedstore. This spring we added 9 more to our flock (4 silver laced wyandotte pullets, 4 gold laced pullets, and one little gold laced cockerel) which are getting close to being ready to meet the rest of the flock and start their lives as free ranging farm chickens.

I've lurked around here for a while and decided to finally make an account so that I could talk to others who are featherbrained like-minded!

G'Day from down under Rebecca :frowWelcome!

I am pleased you delurked and hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
