Hi! I'm Vicki. I'm a homeschooling mama to four children, and we have seven backyard chickens.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We have had chickens for two years now! We were given three from a friend, and then last year, we raised our other five chickens from chicks.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Seven chickens right now. That's unfortunately the max we can have on our property size per city regulations, or we'd have more! We enjoy our little flock though!
(3) What breeds do you have?
We currently have five Polish and two Easter Eggers.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The eggs! Haha. But I love looking out into our yard every day and seeing the chickens. They are so entertaining to watch, especially the polish chickens with their funny hairdos! My oldest daughter especially enjoys caring for them and they are all her friends.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I have too many hobbies.
But the two that occupy the most of my time are baking and home projects.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have four children--8 y/o, 5 y/o, 3y/o, and 7 months. And one floofy, grumpy cat.
