The breeds hatched (pretty sure!) are: 2 yellows are 'heritage long lays', plus a plymouth rock, australorp and polish bantam.

I like to wait about 5 days after the due date of hatch. Some chicks are just late hatchers. In a perfect world, LOL, all the babies hatch at once. And generally they do hatch within 24 to 36 hours of each other. But unless I am sure the eggs that are left are dead, I just let them continue for a total of 5 days past due date just in case. As long as they are not cracked, then I just leave them there.Thank you Twocrows. I do have a quick question, and no doubt a typical newbie one! It is now end of day 21 and the remaining 7 eggs haven't pipped yet (1 I am almost sure isn't viable). I know I just have to wait, but just wondering if it is normal considering that the first five hatched on day 20, with 4 of those hatching before 7am. I had assumed (for no good reason really) that they would all hatch within 24-36 hrs of each other?
Congrats! You did well on the hatch!!Thank you, yet again!I don't think any are cracked - I did remove the hatched chicks late yesterday afternoon because they were clambering all over the unhatched eggs and causing them to bump into one another
got worried that they may cause some cracks. We did it with minimum opening of cover - and closely monitored any changes in humidity. I am really glad I did now because the chicks have been even more active today! Love, love love the chicks we have. But feel like an expectant mother that has just gone past the due date!
Congrats! You did well on the hatch!!

Enjoy all those new babies!!![]()
Yes, hatching is a great experience for the entire family. I have done many hatches and I still get all warm and fuzzy inside when I see them hatch. And during brooding, I STILL get up at midnight to check on my babies. I have never gotten over the "nervous mommy" stage. LOLI should add that I have been scouring the learning centre since I first started. An amazing site!
