I have been lurking (heavily) for weeks. Today, I realized my (shoulda been Ameraucana but I was duped by wording) EE's have started laying.
1 gal is laying brown and left us an egg the other day, it was oblong and had a bit of blood on it.

Today, another gal left us a pastel pink egg. I got eggcited and had to make an account.

We have had chickens before but the hoot owls gave us a hard way to go. After nagging hubby for around 3 years to get the chicken house back in order, I gave up and bought the chicks, 11 EE's. :) Hence now the house is in order and hubby added 4 straight run Rhode Island Reds, 1 RIR hen, and 1 Wyandotte hen.

I have 5 roosters, 3 of which are in freezer camp and 2 in the coop.I'm not sure what kind they are but they are around 1 year old and feather footed.

Hi Kelsie, right now I'm seriously engrossed in the post with photos of odd things hens have laid.
My mother in law sends us some ofher fresh eggs so the eggs we have started to find are mixed in, minus the pink one.

I got , my 11 EE's on 3/31, and I think doing pretty good with this week bringing our 1st eggs.

The Wyandotte seems... shy, laid back but the RIR hen (they are aprox. 2 yrs) is just bossy, even at me. We have had those 2 just since 5/24 and the 4 little RIR's the Sat. before them.
I can't get over just how bossy and brave she is.
Was pretty funny when she thought it'd be fun to have a standoff with me.

I might see if I can get a picture of the boys and add it. My EEs are busy and I usually have to hang out with them for about an hour before they calm down and are even close to being still enough for a picture.

I thought our 1st eggs would be brown and green/blue, which I think 1 was brown but pink was awesome, didn't think I'd luck out with that color.

I may habe been duped by the breed but all in all, I wanted fun eggs for my great nieces and nephews.

Easter eggers are good birds despite the fact that hatcheries like to pass them off as different breeds - buyer beware.

Wow, your EEs are precocious if they are laying already. Love the range of egg colors you get from EEs, those odd pinkish ones are neat, you are lucky to get that color! And hopefully some of the others will lay various shades of blue/green. EEs are usually really nice birds to have in a flock, they seem to get along with everybody, you may even like them better than Ameraucana, hatchery EEs especially do seem to be less broody which is nice if you want them primarily for eggs. Funny about your RIR girl, they do tend to be on the bossy side, so your girl sounds pretty typical, they always think they need to be in charge!

Well, now *I* know about the buyer beware.

No egg today, I didn't check 4 times or anything like that. ;) I know it'll take a bit for regular laying but I still check.

As for Miss Biddy, the RIR, I'm having to keep an eye on her, I'm afraid she could be a feather plucker, she's pretty mean to the other gals and pecking at them a lot. Trying not to rehome her or put her in freezer camp just yet.

With the recent death of my sister, I'm a bit slow with posting but will kerp it in mind for sure.

Thank you all for the welcome!

Oh and as for Broody, my white EE sort of acts like she might be, they're awful young gor me to guess at right now. I did egg comparison last night, the last 3 eggs had to be from them because of the pink and they are on the small size but bigger than a farter egg.
