Hi from south TX

I am fairly new to having chickens. I started with 7 chickens and 1 rooster given to me by a friend. My neighbor's dog killed several. I got several new ones and now have 3 Rhode Island reds, 1 naked necks and about 11 Buff orpinhtons.
Even though I grew up on a farm, i didn't remember anything about chickens but I do enjoy learning and taking care of them.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm sorry about your loss to the dog. ( Sadly, dogs and chickens do not typically mix well. Dogs either tend to view chickens as prey or else as chew toys. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center.
