I was on here a few years ago, but life got crazy, we found new homes for our flock, and left the forum for a few years. Back again, hoping to give this another shot.



(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, we are pretty new to this. We had two small flocks previously, but we are by no means knowledgeable about chickens yet.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
0. But I’ve ordered 3 Colombian Rock and 3 Plymouth Rock chicks for mid-May. Hoping to find a couple Orpingtons!

(3) What breeds do you have?
See above.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Fresh eggs, quirky pets, and teaching the kids where their food comes from and how to care for the chickens.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Mostly parenting, right now.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We’re a family of 2 parents and 8 kids.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Found BYC through google, and it looked like the perfect place to find the info and advice we need to raise some chickens in our backyard.
