Brand newbie and makin' mistakes already!

I am a new chicken owner. It was my husband's idea to get chicks, and I was totally against it from the start. He wanted them for eggs, and I thought that 3 kids and two dogs were plenty to take care of! I finally gave in and said we'd try it. So....three weeks ago I came home to find 6 chicks in a brooder in our garage. And so the adventure began. I set out on a mission to learn as much as I could, as quickly as I could about chickens. In doing so, I stumbled across the BYC. I have been scouring this and many other websites and books for information since then. AND I have fallen in love with 6 chicks. I am planning to continue my chicken learning on BYC and expand my flock!

Hi ! Glad to see another Kentuckian on here! I am living in Lou. with kids, dogs and 4 in the coop.(2 polish,1 Amerucana and a Salmon Faverolle), 6 in the brooder and 9 Tolbunts in the Bator..I was just going to get a few girls for eggs..Go figure.....Very happy and relaxing to keep chickens..What kind of girls are you living with?
