I have 6 girls (at least I hope) that are 9-10 weeks old. I bought them when they were a few days old. I have one each of Ameraucana, Buff Orp, Black Australorp, Speckled Sussex, Feather-legged Cuckoo Marans, and New Hampshire Red.

It's been a roller coaster ride. At 7 weeks, 2 of them showed signs of Coccodiosis (lots of blood). I medicated the flock, all seems well. Now for a week one chicken has been limping (no visible break) and I was so worried about her, but she is improving. I have a 4x5 coop and an 8x10 run, and I let them out for supervised free-ranging a couple of times a day - we live in the woods so lots of places to scratch for bugs.

My children are grown and my husband works long hours, so this is my new hobby. I can't wait until they lay eggs. This site has been extremely helpful in my new adventure!

Welcome to BYC!

Sounds like you are on top of things and taking care of your flock well!!

If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask. Enjoy this new adventure you are on and welcome to our flock!

It's just myself and hubby also. I was the one to get into the chickens, he is now into chickens. lol..took a while, but if he hears that I am selling one of the girls..he asks...you are selling Bella? Knows their names now. Knows a bit about hatching now, what day I'm on during lock down. Pretty cute. Said the other day, hey, Sparkles squat for me..let me pet her!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have a cute little flock, glad everyone seem to be OK now. Hope those first eggs show up soon!

Thank you for the welcome, everyone! I love my little flock and they seem very happy. In fact, I'm heading out now to let them out for a bit! It's so fun to watch them scratch and peck in the leaves.
