I have 6 girls (at least I hope) that are 9-10 weeks old. I bought them when they were a few days old. I have one each of Ameraucana, Buff Orp, Black Australorp, Speckled Sussex, Feather-legged Cuckoo Marans, and New Hampshire Red.
It's been a roller coaster ride. At 7 weeks, 2 of them showed signs of Coccodiosis (lots of blood). I medicated the flock, all seems well. Now for a week one chicken has been limping (no visible break) and I was so worried about her, but she is improving. I have a 4x5 coop and an 8x10 run, and I let them out for supervised free-ranging a couple of times a day - we live in the woods so lots of places to scratch for bugs.
My children are grown and my husband works long hours, so this is my new hobby. I can't wait until they lay eggs. This site has been extremely helpful in my new adventure!
