Hi from Vermont

Your coop is large enough (just barely) for 12 chickens; the recommended minimum is 4sq. ft. per bird, but you need more run space. The recommended run minimum is 10 sq. ft. per chicken, which means for 12 chickens you need a run of at least 120 sq. ft. (more would be better). Overcrowding can quickly lead to aggression, feather plucking, and even cannibalism. Golden Comets are great chickens; one of a number of labels that Red Sex Links are sold under and they are egg laying machines. Good luck with your flock.

I think that it will do at least for now. The whole thing is on skids so all I need to do is get behind it with the tractor and give it a push to move them to fresh pasture. The feeder and roosts are designed so as not to use floor space as will the nest boxes be. It is also has over 6 feet of head room, plenty of roosting space, and more than enough screened openings for ventilation. If aggressive behavior becomes a problem I will sell or give away a few. When we raised poultry years back something always seemed to happen to one or two anyway. The raccoon's are already making efforts to get in at night, I think it is secure but they are crafty little buggers.
