Hey everyone! I've been reading a lot on here, and posted about my Silkies and what sex they may be on the Gender/Breed section. I thought I'd formally introduce myself. :) My name is Karlina, my husband Ron and I live in Spotsylvania Virginia. We have 6 dogs (2 Yorkies, Flat Coated Retriever, GSP, Lab, and a Beagle) 2 cats (Exotic Shorthairs), a Goffin Cockatoo, A Quaker parrot, a Cherry Head Conure, and a room full of PF Lovebirds that I breed and show. I just got my first chickens May 1 of this year, they are Silkies, and I am IN LOVE!! LOL Last Weekend I purchased 6 more, 2 of which are Showgirls, and already I'm banning myself from anymore swaps. Am I the only one that thinks they're like potato chips?? I just love them.

My husband is currently working on the pen/coop, it's about half done, so my 2 month old Silkies are still living in my basement (YIKES), but they are so tame. I am very much looking forward to getting them out of my house!

I love this site, there is so much information, and everyone seems so helpful!!

I hope to get to know some of you well!

Karlina

And yes I know the danger of going to swaps.

I really want to go this weekend but I am already overflowing with chicks.

Chicken math is a very interesting phenomenon. But enjoyable!!!

I got my first chicks on April 24th and I have been hooked since!

Again Welcome!!

from middle TN! Chickens are just like potato chips...you cant have just...however many! You always want more! I have 12...6 RIR's and 6 Buff O's. They were all supposed to be hens, but of course one turned out to be a roo. I named him Rudy Roo. The hens are just collectively called 'the girls'. They all look too much alike to be able to tell them apart. I really want some Silver Laced Wyandottes, dont really need them, I have plenty of chickens for the bug control and fresh eggs (reasons I used to get husband on board with getting chickens) I need, but they are sooo pretty! When the economy went belly up, I started this "program"... the 'buy what you need, not what you want' program. Well...I hate it!

So, unless something happens to some of the chickens I already have I wont be getting any SLW's....maybe;) Welcme to the site, you will learn alot and be hugely entertained!
