Thought I better introduce myself after being just a lurker for a couple of years and having learned so much from you all and still learning all the time!
We have eight hens,all now 2 and a half years old and have had them for 11 months, 4 Easter Eggers ,2 Cukoo Marans and 2 Delawares all great layers except Brienne the big loud Delaware who is a bit of a freeloader lol but we love them all dearly!
We have an old 1875 farmhouse with a very old huge chicken coop...33' x23' split into 3 bays of which we use just one for the girls,it's a really lovely coop and we are so lucky that it was already on the property,apparently in 1930s and 40s they kept a lot of chickens here!
I have always wanted chickens but grew up in England in houses where we were not allowed to keep them in the backyard ,so am very fortunate that as a transplant to the USA ,my dream became reality.
