Hi! My name is Heather. We are completely new to raising chickens. My son cam home with a few days old chick at the start of June. We've since discovered its a Buttercup pullet. She started not doing so well this past weekend. Having a hard time figuring out what is wrong with her. The only noticable thing is that she has stopped opening her eyes. We have sperated her from the rest of the flock.

A few weeks after Tagalong was brought home (that's what my son named her) we added a Barred Rock-Ruby, 2 sex links-Princess Tweet and Bird, a NH Red-Peaches, a turkey-Ralph and a peacock-Charlie. We also had a blue Silkie-Pippa but she died yesterday. Some how got stuck in the door of the coop. We were all very sad. They are all about the same age 4-6 week range.

So our new adventure this spring/summer has been to plant a garden (not so easy a task up here on the top of a mountain) and raising chickens. Loving it so far.

In addition to the chickens I have a husband Bob. Chickens were originally his idea and I was dragging my heals and our son just made the decision up for us. lol. We have 4 children, Mac, Kristin, Anna and Bobby. We also have a golden retriever named Hudson.

Thank you for this forum. All the information is amazing!

Heather

I'm a native hillbilly...errr..mountaineer myself, but am now a hoosier. If you haven't yet, you might want to post in the emergencies section to get some feedback on your sick chicken - be sure to describe as much as possible about her condition.
