I presently live in Texas but will be moving to Oregon by the end of the year, so I won't be starting my backyard flock until then.
I am not new at raising birds. When I lived in the country I had all kinds of birds. All types of laying hens, a bantam rooster, pheasants, ducks, turkeys, peacocks, guineas, quail and each time one died I purchased another.
My favorite chickens were the Buff Cochins, Silkies and Buff Laced Polish. When I get to Bend, I hope to have those and a Peahen.
Unfortunately, 4 is the limit in the city. Hoping to have some acreage so that I can have more but we won't know until we go up this summer to find some place to live.
I hope to learn more from this site and maybe add a little with the information I have from my experience with raising backyard birds.
