Hello everyone, I’m Jill, 48 year old mom of 3 almost grown children. I live in Tooele Utah with my 3 small dogs, a couple of cats, and now 4 little Black Australorp chicks.
I’ve never raised chickens before, so I’m a complete newbie to all things chicken. We made it through some new chick pasty butt, and now I’ve noticed that a couple of chicks have impacted crops. I’ve taken their food, mixed some apple cider vinegar in warm water for them, and have given them some extra grit, oil, and have been massaging their crops several times per day.
I’m planning on keeping an eye on them for the next little while, and will try feeding them mashed hard boiled egg and some plain yogurt when their crops seem to be decreasing in size.
Other than what I’ve already done, and am planning on doing, is there anything I’m missing? I’d appreciate any advice.
Thanks everyone, I’m happy to be here!

That’s what I would think as well, except that they aren’t going down in size at all since yesterday, and I took their food away this morning. Their crops are very hard.😞
They are on chick crumbles with nothing other than that to eat?

If you gave them something else, they need grit.
