Hi! I’m new.

My name is Pea, and I’m an old hand at raising birds. Well... parrots, anyway. 😂. We have two parrots right now, and we’ve never raised chickens. Holy crap- it’s not the same AT ALL. 😆

My family and I just brought home our first chicken flock- six little Black Australorp pullets. They’re in our newly built brooder now, and are 7 days old today! They’re SO. CUTE.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you! Thanks for having me!

oooooh I'm so glad you posted! I've had small parrots before (cockatiels and budgies) but never parrots but I'm getting one in the spring... A rescue that's 20 years old (African Grey) I have four chickens. Have you introduced your parrots to your chickens? If so, how did it go? I was thinking it might be nice to bring my parrot outside with me to the chicken run when I'm cleaning for a change of scenery for her. Wondering if you have tried that?

Hi Pea!

I started with BAs about the same time you did. You are right: the chicks are adorable! Cute little tuxes.

They grow into very beautiful birds. I've just started getting eggs. :celebrate They were beautiful before they started laying, but they are even more special now.

I think chicken math is getting ahold of me. I already "know" I need two or three more next spring, and I want more BAs.

Good luck and welcome. This is the best place to hang out and talk chicken.

Best,
Sally
