hey yall! i am soo happy to be a new part of the community here, I have learned everything there is to know about chicken raising from you smart folks.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes! Brand new last year. I inherited 3 already-laying hens when we bought our house and land from the previous owners who were moving across the country.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
9!!!!! lol
(3) What breeds do you have?
A Buff and a lavender Orpington, barred rock, black sexlink, white americauna, splash maran, blue laced wyandotte, a cinnamon queen (i think!) and an Easter egger.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
It feels very natural and like you have collectible garden companions. The endless gorgeous orange-yolked eggs, knowing exactly where they come from, isn’t bad either!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, riding Harleys, doing makeup for clients and hanging out with my family and dogs.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m a project manager for a PM firm, and beauty side business owner. My dogs are my children! Pitties and pointers.
