Hi I am back.

I am a 74 yr. old golden oldy. I was sick and had to give my precious chicks up. I am going to get some chicks this spring and am loving this site again. In the summer I am in the mtns of NC and then the winters I am on the coast of NC. Sounds Ideal but I hate it.. I love my mtns. I would love to stay year round. Family requires the move back and forth. I have had many beautiful hens and loved them dearly. I had the problems of Mericks once and lost a flock and cried but I learned. No adding hens from other flocks. Also I had to get a new coupe and new run. I don't ever want that again. That flock was on a special checking system. I loved being on it but It did not prevent my loss. Are any of the old timers here. Speckled hen are you here. The hens i had from you were beautiful.

OMG, Gloria Jean!!!!! I've been wondering about you forEVER! I was hoping you were okay, sent you messages, etc! I still have my splash Rock hen I named after you! My Gloria Jean is about to turn 9 years old. SO happy you're back!

can you get chicks with their shots?
What shots are you talking about? There are many vaccines and they don't prevent disease, generally, only the devastating symptoms that accompany it. You might want to ask this in he Emergencies & Disease section and investigate that some. Some diseases are passed bird to bird, some are passed through the egg to the chick, etc. So many aspects of this, too many to answer on this particular thread. 🙂

Hello, and welcome back! I'm glad that you will be starting a new flock! What breed or breed's are you planning on getting?
I will not have a special type of hen this time. would love to have a muran, a hybrid sexlink for eggs, then a hen to lay blue or green eggs also a white egg layer.Oh Oh I also want a buff orpington. I can only have 4 because of the moving back and forth. I do hate this back and forth.
