A few families in our church have chickens and have shared their bounty. I decided I want to have my own. I can't wait to get some this week. We have a brooder all set up and the coop is getting built in the next few weeks - weather cooperating. So glad we don't live in the city limits that don't allow chickens.
I have lived in KS all my 40 years, within 50 miles of Wichita. We have 1 teenager left at home.

I hope the coop construction goes well! Do you know what breeds you want yet?

I'm sure you'll enjoy those chickys when they arrive!

I'm a newbie too! We built the coop then got the chicks and brooder. I currently have 13 chicks in the house-boy are they a handful and so much fun! I got a variety- Wyandottes (Silver and Gold Laced) Barred Rocks and Americanas. So far the Barred rocks are my favorites! Sweet and cuddly and extremely cuddly! Good luck!
