I have 4 lovely hens and live on a 50' X 100' lot in the middle of a small rural town. I was told I could have chickens if the neighbors didn't complain. At first i had a rooster but he was crowing on EST and it was only 4 AM here in Nevada. I hurried and found him a home before the neighbors complained. I think I will get a new one this spring. I have two chihuahua dogs and the chickens tolerate them. The dogs steal the chickens treats sometimes but not if the chickens are watching. They get along great. I originally got the chickens when I lost a whole years garden to an infestation of roly poly bugs. The chickens cleaned them out really fast, and no pesticides. Good job girls. Sometimes we have a hard time making ends meet at the end of the month before the social security check comes in but then i start begging friends for kitchen scraps. So far we haven't gone hungry.
