Hi, I am new here & a new chicken mama!

Hello Dana, and welcome to the BYC commumnity! :frow

I am sorry you lost your Peggy, but confident that with the help of the BYC community it will be easier for you to treat them, the next time any of your girls might get sick.

Is it just the picture, or does this girl have cloggeld nares?

It's just the picture. That's Butterscotch my Isa brown! She is the sweetest girl. Pain in my butt sometimes tho when I am doing yard work she likes to be right at my feet, waiting on a bug to come out when I pull weeds. It's hilarious. When I go outside she literally will run as fast as she can to me and she loves to talk. I call it "bitching" 😂 I always say " stop that bitchin'" cus sometimes it sounds mean lol. She's small too so that makes it even cuter.

Welcome! I lost a few when I was first starting out :hitI had two grown hens and then I started raising chicks and I had to learn how to do that the hard way so I think you are doing great! This community is a great resource but you will learn a lot over time just by doing and trying new things.

Don't beat yourself up (I know it's hard not to). You really are doing great if you kept your chicks alive the first go round-I promise. :thumbsup

Hahaaa! I know exactly what your mean!
Three of my BC Marans hens come running to volunteer as helpers every time I grab a spade or rake or mow or whatever the garden tasks will be. I have to be careful not to tread on them or guillotine them with my spade, as each time I lift the spade, they will instantly dive under it or even hop on the blade looking for earth worms etc. and of course they are talking nonstop while working hard at their self-designated task.
They also inspect every tool and screw, measuring tape etc. that we are currently using for the aviary enlargement. Makes the tasks more fun but also very time consuming.

Chickens are great!
