We were back yard chickens parents years ago and I have missed them so much. Now we have 3 Orpington's and 3 Australorp's been home since Monday and they are growing like crazy. So far their names are Goldie, Sunshine, Curious Georgette, and Nugget. I love raising backyard chickens because they become family to us, we actually tell people we have "chicken dogs" because two of my last girls (Olive and Blue Girl) would come in the house and snuggle in the dog bed or get drinks from the dog water bowl.. I am pretty sure they thought they were dogs. A big challenge will be getting my two fur babies 4 year old Sugar Baby and 3 year old Mr. Scouty (Jack Russell and Miniature Pinscher) to BE NICE...

Looking forward to this new adventure.

Love their names and the concept of "chicken dogs."

Good luck on getting your other kids to play nice. Right now, my terrier is furiously barking at the soon-to-go-outside, adult "house" chicken, who retaliates by pecking her in the face, Apparently, this game is more fun for them than for me. No one really gets hurt, but it is annoying at best.
